Mzuzu University is a Malawian university located in the northern region, founded in 1997. It has several research centers that focus on various areas such as water and sanitation, renewable energy technologies, inclusive education, and healthcare. 

Professor Peter Mwanza played an active role in establishing the university as Chairman of the University Council and later as Vice-Chancellor.
